The war of ideas
We have often read and heard that the clay (earth) from which human beings are made is a belligerent earth. But it is neither true nor just to say, in a scientific way, that the clay (earth) from which human beings were created is a belligerent earth, because many factors influence the formation of the human character, such as upbringing, place, time and the conditions of one’s surroundings… and so on. The most accurate thing that can be said is this: human beings are neither wholly under the sway of belligerence nor wholly without it.
From the day human beings appeared on this earth until today, they have met with war and fighting. For many reasons and in all kinds of ways, this is a deep and very widespread subject. Within this tangled subject, with its many threads and branches, it is a most important necessity that we shed light on the part (the war of ideas) that is known as the second face of physical (classical) war, because the two happen at the same time and have gone together through every stage of being carried out.
Special warfare
The war of ideas, which is also called (special warfare), is defined as follows:
Special warfare (in English, special warfare) is a war whose aim is not the occupation of land, but the control and breaking of a society’s values and development.
Military forces play only a supporting role in it; together with all the institutions and bodies of the state, they work in concert under the highest authority of that country; its main tools are these:
- propaganda,
- false information (disinformation),
- creating doubt and discord within society,
- buying certain people (agents) or collaborators,
- as well as seizing control of the culture, language and consciousness of the opposing side.
The real war
The war that is waged against the Kurds was never only a classical war. It is not a war over a city, nor a confrontation on the borders. The real war was always inside people: it was in the mind that is being raised anew, in the soul that is being reprogrammed, in the consciousness that is being shaped so that it becomes a follower, fearful and indecisive. This is more dangerous than war with fire, because the consciousness and awareness of a nation are defeated; and no nation is defeated by the defeat of its army, but by the defeat of the awareness and consciousness of most of the members of that nation. When is a society defeated? When its mind is defeated, not when its armies fall.
This war did not only break consciousness; it also weakened the relationship of Kurd with Kurd. The danger of this war truly shows itself, plain and clear, at this point: when consciousness breaks, all the values of life break with it, such as language, culture, name, history, existence, character and so on.
This is the most dangerous tool of war that the occupiers of our homeland use: they have turned our society into a battlefield, and in it our forces and our values, in the name of bravery, honour and patriotism, clash with one another out of envy and jealousy, and our strong ones are constantly at war or else stand aside, while their enemy constantly reaps the fruits and blessings of this war for himself, such as the disunity of our nation, the leading of our strong ones away from the path of right understanding, the keeping of the strength of our young people in ignorance, and much else.
The day the Kurds give respect back to themselves is the day they let go of the fear of their brother’s success; it is the day they give up running from the truth and hiding behind the wall of hypocrisy. Then they will take the first step in defeating special warfare. And only then will they be able to see the world with the eyes of freedom, not with the eyes of slavery.
The developed countries
The saying: Consciousness is the essence of life; it did not come out of emptiness. We see how, in the developed countries, they work night and day to raise the level of consciousness in their societies, because these nations have drawn experience and lessons from their history and have understood well that a low level of social consciousness will weaken and impair every side of life. Thirty years of my life have passed in Europe, and I see with my own eyes how, and with what engineering, these developed countries stand up to the problem of declining social consciousness: with knowledge and with a plan, night and day, they work under the name of service.
This call is for every Kurd: whoever cannot help another Kurd, let him at least no longer break him, nor blacken him either; enough now, let him not be a labourer, paid or unpaid, for wrecking the fabric of our nation’s life, for that fabric of life is the property of all the people who live on this earth, not of one person alone.
Among all the people of the world there are differences of thought and opinion, but we see that in the developed countries this difference becomes a source of strength for reinforcing their way of life, and they do not let this difference become the cause of the collapse of their living together, through mutual respect and by settling ideas with ideas, without breaking and blackening anyone’s character.
Kurdish success
This call is for every Kurd whom the success of a foreigner does not shake, because in his old equations, the ones he has swallowed whole, that is something ordinary. But Kurdish success is a catastrophe, because it breaks the ring that has been carefully built around him: a ring that tells you you cannot, and that you have been condemned to an everlasting fate that will not let you get past it. That is why black anger and hatred stir inside him every time he sees a Kurd stepping out from under orders, every time he sees a Kurd calling out in a loud voice and thinking different thoughts, every time he sees a Kurd who neither bows his head to the view of the group nor seeks its approval, as a separatist, a wrecker of the situation, and that is how he is seen in it.
(Oh my, or are there not those blacklists with which to accuse him of separatism).
In the next part I will speak about varîbûn, which completes this part.
